NAUGHTY OR NICE?

Mostly just frustrating... Not to mention my fault for not keeping a closer eye on her. I just wish I would of got a picture of her leaning over and trying to drink the milk off the tray....

HAIR CUTS!

Sophie, Drew and Rob all got hair cuts today at Amy Carlson's. Amy did such a great job and I love that she is so convenient and quick too! Sophie's hair turned out so cute. She has a cute little style now and not blah hair. It really makes her look grown up and fits the little hair that she does have. I think you will agree AdOrAbLe!!! Drew's hair is cute too. I really like it short. I know, what is there really to say about boys hair.... Right? Thanks Amy!

THANKSGIVING 09

I remembered the camera but forgot to get pictures. These are the ones I managed to take. The Company, Conversation and Food were so good I'm sure you you can understand....

Nick, brought out his Rock Band that we all enjoyed playing. I think the adults were doing most the playing and not letting the kids get on. We were supposed to have a battle of the bands (Matt Guitar, Tiffany Bass, Nick Drums and Tab Vocals) against (Brent Guitar, Mary Drums, Rob Vocals and Myself Bass) However Matt's Band (we will call it) "had to leave for their second Thanksgiving".... So I declared Victory for our band due to forfeit. Not the most satisfying way to win, but a win! This was the most fun I have had in a long time. It was fun to finally be able to pay a video game with my brothers.

Matt's Band Practicing... They were good too.

Dinner was at 12:30 we all pretty much came a few hours early to help get things ready and practice rock band. The kids were ready to eat but there was still an hour to go. They were getting themselves seated at the "kids table" . It smelled so good no one could blame them. They did manage to take care of the relish plates, well at least the Pickles and Olives.

My Dad getting the Slice/Cranberry drink ready...

After dinner conversation. I still think we cleaned up the dishes too soon. I guess better than waiting too long and not wanting to do it..... Note all the plates not a scrap of food to be found.

Grandma J and Dad, after the wonderful meal. It was so nice to have Grandma with us for Thanksgiving. Our Johnsen side has just gotten too big and this was the first year our family had separate dinners.

No pictures of all the pies my Mom made or all the delicious food. Probably for the best! What a wonderful day. I have so many blessings to be thankful for each day and my Family is just one of many!

In Case You Didn't Know.....

Rob and I are expecting baby #3. My due date is June 4, so that puts me at about 11 weeks. We are excited and nervous.... However we feel very blessed to be able to add a new member to our family. Things have been going well, except for the exhaustion and morning sickness that lasts all day. Hopefully that will be going away in a couple of weeks, well at least the morning sickness. I don't think I will feel rested for a very long time. We wanted to share our news with all our family and friends and in the case I had not told you yet... Now you know!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Drew was a Fisherman and Sophie was Little Red Riding Hood. The great thing about these costumes is I already had everything except for the baskets, fishing pole and cape. So I went to the craft store and got what we needed and did home made costumes and I think they turned out great. They both really loved it too. It did not take long for Sophie to catch on to trunk or treating and they were both really great to hold the baskets and Drew his fishing pole. It was a lot of fun!

My New Project

So instead of doing Laundry or housework today I decided to Sew. I just got this new pattern for an apron I have been dying to try. I love when the pattern you have is not on tissue paper. I hate those patterns.

Back
My Mom and I went to this new fabric store I heard about. The store is not new, just new to me. It's called Material Girl in South Jordan Love, Love, Love. Lots of fun Material, cute patterns. We had fun. The kind of place where you could spend a lot to time and money.

Thursday's Adventure

I'm not one to go into town. I mostly stay at home unless I HAVE to go somewhere. I usually write the list and have Rob do the errands. I'm not sure what got into me yesterday I guess I had a little bit of an adventurous spirit. We went into town to eat and get hair cuts. I took the kids to McDonald's yes we even went inside to eat so Drew could play on the slide, which he loves. I hate the play zone at McDonald's, and not because of all the potential germs he is touching or all the screaming, running, yelling kids. Its because he gets in that play tube and I cant see what is going. That drives me insane! What if he is pushing or hitting other kids or he gets hurt and needs help? There is no way I can fit up that tube. So I hold my breath each time he goes in and exhale a little when he pops his head out the clear bubble at the top and completely when he reaches bottom. Too stressful for me but Drew was excited and Sophie just loves to get out of the house. I grinned and bared it for at least 20 Min's or as long as it took to eat my food.

Then it was off to get hair cuts. Initially it was just Drew but Soph's hair was looking a little ragged (the hair she has) so I asked if she could get a trim. Drew's hair turned out really good. He looks so different not having those big curls all over his head. Sophie loved loved loved getting her hair done. She sat so still and smiled at all the ladies, she even sat through the blow dryer. The stylist round brushed her hair in the back a little bit. She didn't want it to be over. It was very cute. They charged me full price for Sophie's hair, literally 4 snips. The whole experience did not take more that 5 Min's. I should have confirmed the charge before I had her do it. I guess the hair dryer and round brushing must have pushed it over the edge. However Sophie did enjoy the experience so I shouldn't be so bothered about the $9..... Right?

Coming home the kids fell asleep as usual except Drew was in the back back of the Durango and I did not have any help. Thinking I could get him out with out waking him up.... Holding him going backward out of the door, I did not lift my arm up high enough and scraped my arm really bad on the latch of the folding middle row of seats. I thought I had ripped it open it hurt so bad luckily no broken skin. Nothing a ice pack cant help. Thankfully.

***Warning Graphic Mouse Trapping Story****
To top off the day. Rob gets into bed last night and tells me he trapped a mouse. You see for the last few weeks in the evening after the kids are in bed we have seen mice (its always just one mouse but it has happened at least 5 times) scamper in the living room. Come to think of it, it all started the night Mrs. P and Sarah arrived from NY. I wonder if they were playing a flute on the way from the airport.... I know it has nothing to do with the fact the we live in the middle of hay field. Anyway Back to last night. I said before you came to bed (because its always after we are sleeping they get caught) he said ya, and the trap only caught his leg and I was afraid he was going to get away so I stabbed him with the grilling fork. Mind you I was already in bed sleeping when he came and woke me to tell me this story. This morning however I find it disgusting and quite humours but last night all I could say was, that is pretty violent don't you think. Rob said the mouse peed and shat everywhere after being caught not to mention the stabbing.... so he had quite the mess to clean up. He said he washed the fork, but I will soak it in bleach today and still I don't know that we can use it again. Maybe it can be our mouse "hunting tool"....

Whew.... Here's to a new day! We are thankful for each one we receive.

Grandma Purvis & Aunt Sarah

While Robs Mom and sister were here we did do a few fun things. The bad part I did not get any pictures of except for a few... I need to get better at that. Sarah took a lot I should ask her for copies! We went to Thanksgiving Point on Saturday afternoon which was great timing for the Museum of Ancient Life which is the largest in North America. Drew said he had a good time and only got scared a little bit. There were a lot of "Touch Me" parts and things for kids to do which I thought was very cool. We had dinner at the Harvest Cafe near the General Store and not only was it good but priced very reasonably. I would have loved to see the Gardens but that will have to be another time.

Below is the only photo I got of Sarah. She is so good to play with all the kids and they love when she is here to visit. We love it when Aunt Sarah comes to visit too, she always gives us a much needed break!

Aunt Sarah giving Wyatt, Drew and Sophie wagon rides!

Monday night Mrs. P watched the kids while Rob and I went to the Movies. It was so nice being able to get out of the house just the two of us. I cant remember the last time we did that. Thank you Mrs. P you are always so good to us. You really took care of Rob and I and the kids on your visit. It is always so good to see you. Mrs. P gives the kids so much attention while she's here I think they go into withdrawals when she leaves. Drew asked every morning for 4 days, where did Grandma Purvis go? Why? The kids love it when she comes to visit, endless days of reading books taking walks and playing to their hearts content.

Tuesday before Mrs P. left we were able to have lunch at Penny's. They have really done a great job of renovating. The food was great! My only disappointment came when I wanted the Garlic Burger and they were sold out so I had the Smothered Burrito instead. YuMmY! Then we headed into Tooele to the Park, we happened to drive by the Train Museum and it was open so we stopped in. That is a great little place. The miniature train was running I think Drew went on it 3 times, he loved it. I got a personal tour through the Museum itself and learned a lot about Tooele in the early days. After we headed to Elton Park for a short while and let the kids play. All in all it was a great day.

We had a lot of fun with Mrs. P and Sarah, their visits are always too short however we will take whatever we can get.

RANDOM PHOTOS

DREW:

This is Drew's David Beckham Hair.... His hair is getting so long, I really need to get it cut. Sophie does not have enough hair to do anything with so I figured I would try something with Drew's hair. So he got the David Beckham Do.

SOPHIE:

This is Sophie in Drew's Froggy Boots. These happen to be Drew's favorite shoes to wear, EVERYWHERE! Sophie loves to put on everyones shoes she got these mostly on by herself but I did help some. I had to get a picture, she was so proud of herself and she looked so cute.

NEW PAINT!

I have updated our Kitchen, Living Room and Bathroom with some new paint colors. I really like how it turned out. My favorite would have to be the kitchen, but the others look nice too. I have to thank my Mom first for talking me into it and second taking my kids during the day so I could get this all done before my in laws came to visit. We started on Tuesday evening and Robs Mom and Sister came in Late Thursday night. Needless to say there were a lot of long days and late nights. I finished putting things back together showered sat down to relax before going to bed and they walked through the door.... What timing! I must thank Rob as well he did mask most everything and helped with some painting. Rob you made everything go a lot smoother and faster than if I had to do it by myself! Thank You! Thanks to Tammy as well with out here there is no way I would have been done in time, she did the first coat in the Bathroom!!!

Kitchen - Spanish Olive

Living Room - Warm Suede

Bathroom - Steel Blue

Summer FuN!

Sophie insists on feeding herself these days. She is still practicing as you can see. I'm not sure how all this syrup ended up on her head or all over her body for that matter.
Rob in Castledale for his Physics class. I know he really enjoyed this class, they got to work on a lot of projects and really have fun! You will have to ask him about his rocket launcher.

The only 2 photos I got on the 4th.... It was pretty chilly in the morning during the Parade. I had to put Sophies hoodie on her. I thought playing on the Water slide planned for the afternoon would have to be canceled. The one good thing about the chilly morning was it made the Parade more pleasant to watch. The Johnsen family sits on the sunny side of the street so the cloud cover was extra nice.
Drew wanting his photo taken, which is unusual these days unless you are taking a photo of Sophie that is....
This is what you get when you leave the media cabinet unlocked. Boy does she like to "Re-organize" the DVD Library...

I cant believe how fast the Summer is passing us by. We had the Hogan Family reunion, Rob is going to School, the 4th of July. Not to mention a couple of Birthday Parties with more on the way! I usually bring my camera but I don't always take pictures. I really need to get better at this. Rob picks up the slack by using his phone camera but it takes a while before I have access to these. We hope you are enjoying your summer too!

Update in Photos...

A Typical Day at the Purvis House

Start by emptying out the Book Shelves (toy box or blanket box) because you need the stuff to haul in your dump truck!

Then its outside for a little play time. Drew and Sophie got this wagon from Grandma P and Aunt Sarah. They love to go for rides! Drew loves to play on the lawn mowers, EZ go or 4-Wheeler whatever happens to be out front at the time.
Go inside for a little hide and seek. Not a long lived game at our house, Drew is still working on learning how to hide.

Lunch Time. Yeah! Drew has added a new item to the things he will eat. A Peanut Butter Sandwich as long as it is shaped like anything but a slice of bread.

Silly time before bed. I would like to introduce you to Ms. Kitty and Mr. Bear. These are a couple of Drew's Friends. He has to have them before he will go to sleep at night. I'm going to look into some kind of locating device for them. They can be tough to find a times.

Bath time. Sophie in her cute Princess towel, she got for her birthday from Grandma and Pa Pop Hogan.

That takes care of a typical day leaving out all the "Drama", yelling (mostly on my part, I have to work on this) hitting (on Drew's part, we have to work on this with him) and testing me at every chance they get. Sometimes I feel like I'm on a hidden camera show, how will the stressed out mother of two handle today's challenges?! Undoubtedly we do, I need to relax more and let my kids be kids. They are only little for a short time.

Today is Rob's last day for teaching school until Fall. He will actually be going away to school 4 weeks of the summer.... Needless to say we will be getting used to a new schedule soon. Rob has revitalized the sand box in our front yard and Drew enjoys playing in that as well. Sophie has come down with a bronchial infection so it Antibiotics and Breathing treatments for the next 10 days. All in all things are good. We are loving the warm weather and the longer days.
